We offer same-day repairs during regular hours and dedicated after-hours emergency dispatch. Use the guide below to figure out what to do while you wait for a technician.

What's happening right now?

Broken Spring: What to do

  • Stop using the opener immediately. Do not run the opener again. It will strain the motor and could cause the door to crash down.
  • Keep everyone clear. Do not let children or pets near the garage door opening.
  • If your car is trapped: Call us first. We can talk you through the safest way to disengage the opener so you can lift the door manually with a helper.
What NOT to do:

Do not try to lift the door by yourself. Without spring tension, a garage door can weigh 150–400+ lbs and can fall suddenly. Never attempt to repair or adjust the spring yourself—they are under extreme tension and can cause severe injury.

Snapped Cable: What to do

  • Stop using the opener. With one cable broken, the door has no balanced support. Running the opener can bend the track or cause the door to drop.
  • Keep clear of the door. The door may be hanging unevenly and could fall.
  • Block access if needed. If the door is stuck open and your car is outside, block the opening from the inside of the house and call us.
What NOT to do:

Do not try to manually lower the door unless the spring is intact and you have a helper. Do not touch the frayed cable—the tension can snap back and cause severe injury.

Door Off Track: What to do

  • Stop the opener. If you can safely reach the plug, unplug the opener so nobody accidentally hits the remote.
  • Leave the door in place. If it's closed, leave it. If it's open or stuck partway, keep people and pets out from under it.
  • Call for service. Off-track doors need professional realignment. Trying to force it back can cause the door to fall completely.
What NOT to do:

Do not pull the red emergency release cord. With rollers out of the track, the door can come down unevenly or all at once. Do not hammer or pry the track back into line.

Door Stuck Open: What to do

  • Secure the area. If the door is stuck open, your home is unsecured. Block the opening from the inside if possible.
  • Check for a simple fix. If the opener light is blinking, the safety sensors might be misaligned. Check if something is blocking the sensor beam (like a trash can or a cobweb).
  • Call us. If the door won't respond to the wall button or remote, there may be a mechanical failure or opener issue. We prioritize unsecured doors.
What NOT to do:

Do not bypass the safety sensors by taping them or tying them up. This defeats a critical safety feature that prevents the door from crushing someone. Do not try to force the door down manually if it is jammed.

How our emergency service works

After-hours (10pm–6am): We offer emergency dispatch for urgent situations. A $129 service call fee applies for overnight call-outs. Parts and repair labor are quoted separately before any work begins, so you know the total upfront.

HELPFUL ANSWERS

Emergency Garage Door FAQs

These answers are general guidance. For advice about your specific door, property, and service availability, contact your local office.

Do you charge extra for after-hours service?

Yes. After-hours emergency service from 10pm to 6am carries a $129 service call fee. Parts and repair labor are quoted separately before work begins. There is no service call fee during regular hours (6am–10pm).

What if my door is stuck open overnight?

Call the office closest to you immediately. A door stuck open leaves your home unsecured, and we prioritize those calls. We'll tell you what we can do and how soon a technician can arrive.

Can you fix a broken spring after hours?

Spring replacement is a common emergency call. The technician will inspect the door, confirm the spring issue, and quote the repair before starting. Do not try to operate or lift a door with a suspected broken spring.

Is same-day service guaranteed?

No. Same-day and next-day availability depends on technician capacity, your location, and the time of day. Call the office to confirm current availability.

What information should I have ready when I call?

Your address, the phone number you can be reached at, what the door is doing (stuck open, stuck closed, off-track, broken spring), whether a vehicle is trapped inside, and whether the door is currently securing your home.
